Located in the West Loop, Maxwells Trading is making waves. Part of the Underscore Hospitality restaurant group organized by Josh Tilden and Chef Erling Wu-Bower, Maxwells Trading was developed in partnership with the local green organization The Roof Crop. At the restaurant, garnishes such as sustainably-harvested herbs, edible flowers and honey from rooftop apiaries bring a fresh, eco-conscious addition to various dishes such as summer squash, pork katsu and bone-in strip steak.

This new Polish restaurant in Bucktown is making quite the impression, with a name that hits at their signature dish. Pierogi Kitchen’s menu is built around a homemade dough recipe passed down for generations, making the restaurant a destination for Polish culinary traditions.

Botanero
A new Mexican agave lounge and restaurant led by Chef Yanitzin Sanchez and restaurateur Richard Vallejo offers a unique blend of traditional Mexican cuisine and innovative cocktails. Botanero, which translates to “a place where one gets snacks” in Spanish, will offer both tasting menu options as well as an a la carte menu of botanas (or appetizers) and agave-forward cocktails.

While the Ukrainian Village favorite Komoda is not new, it recently relocated its doors down the street from its former digs. Reminiscent of an apothecary and boutique, the shop serves as a haven for household necessities, its curated collection feeling unique and essential. Its name, which translates to “a chest of drawers” in Polish, reflects its shelves that come amply stocked with incense, creams, art supplies, jewelry and much more.
