Roscoe Village

The charm of Roscoe Village is inherent in its name. This enchanting community is indeed, as its moniker suggests, a village located right smack dab in the heart of some of the most highly trafficked neighborhoods on the north side of the city.

A bridge on which the words “The Village Within the City” are casually scrawled with childlike simplicity welcomes visitors to something akin to a typical “Main Street” in small town America. Dotted along the main drag of this snug hamlet, are independently owned shops and vintage boutiques, inviting sidewalk cafes, beloved local eateries, and enticing bakeries.

Worthy of special note is neighborhood favorite Le Sud, known for its Provence-inspired Mediterranean cuisine and delightful rooftop patio, which will this year add outdoor dining domes to extend the magic of al fresco dining into the fall. Likewise, Kitsch’n On Roscoe, a longstanding Roscoe Village fave, delivers an evolving menu of comfort food and brunch menu items served with a self-described “hip 70s, funk-ploitation” theme and décor.

And finally, though it is proximate to the “off-Loop” theaters in the Belmont Theater District, Roscoe Village is a destination for entertainment in its own right. Every summer and fall outdoor festivals and community events aplenty pop up everywhere in this unassuming Chicago gem.
